After the opening ceremony, each delegation will make an opening speech at the General Assembly (opening speeches will also be made at the Security Council and the Historical Committee). Each delegation must nominate an ambassador to make the opening speech at the General Assembly. Delegates attending the Security Council and Historical Committee will make the opening speeches in those meetings.
Opening speeches take about one minute to present. The purpose of the opening speech is to introduce your country and give a very brief account of your country’s perspective regarding the main theme for the conference and important issues to be discussed in relation to that theme.
